Graffiti Alley in my hometown of Ann Arbor, MI
Art chose me. From an early age I loved the creative process and easily became immersed in any creative pursuit. Throughout my development I was blessed by an eclectic library at home. I had very open-minded parents and grandparents from which I benefited greatly. My grandparents and mother introduced me to esoteric philosophy and divination at a young age. Tarot was a normal in my home and the tarot cards are probably my first introduction into the world of art as symbol. As I learned to read I recognized the same beauty and subtle messages in literature that I did in visual art. Stories of myth, folktale, poetry, and religious texts broadened my view of the creative mind and of the world. Once I reached high school, thanks in part to where I grew up in Ann Arbor, MI (a place alive with art and graffiti) I became interested in graffiti art and the works of Warhol, Basquiat, and Haring and their use of symbolism to spread messages using pop culture imagery.
The power of images on the human psyche, both individual and collective, still fascinates me. It is my artistic mission to use visual communication to reclaim and redeem humanity’s rich history of powerful symbolism as a way to foster love and appreciation among all people of all cultures, places, and times. My hope is that my work inspires understanding and shines a little light for the viewer on their own personal path.
Thanks for letting me share my joy with you.
