Polaris is a title sequence design based on the short story by author H.P. Lovecraft written in 1918. The story is about a man who is driven to the brink of madness when his dream world becomes blurred with his reality. Like the narrator of the story, the title sequence features the figure falling; first through reality, then his dream world, with the evil eye of the Pole Star always watching.
The look of the title sequence design for Polaris is inspired by the Modernist art movement with a touch of grunge aesthetic. Texture, darkness, and color create a high contrast design that is both striking and eery.
